There are no official changes effective March 1, 2022 in the Sales and Use Tax rates in the U.S. or Canada.

Dutchess County, NY enacts new clothing exemption

Beginning March 1, 2022, sales of eligible clothing and footwear costing less than $110 in Dutchess County are exempt form the county's sales and use tax. Since these items are already exempt from NY State tax, they will be fully exempt from state and local sales and use tax.

This change does not affect the sales and use tax tables, but we do provide a "NYS Clothing Exemption" table to some subscribers, so this changes will be noticeable in that table.

Also in New York State....

A recent notice was mailed to businesses regarding a change in the City of Ogdensburg, in St. Lawrence County.  The rates in the county and city remain the same.  The notice only applied to how transactions must be reported, which does not affect the sales and use tax tables.
