To our valued Zip2Tax clients:

Wednesday, October 20, 2021 UPDATE:

What Happened:

Zip2Tax was victim of a Ransomware attack in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 16.  We did not entertain the idea of paying a ransom.  Ransoms are never a guarantee of restoration, and they only provide the hackers with more capital with which to attack other businesses.

What We Have Done So Far:

Since the attack was discovered, we’ve had teams working in parallel: teams are working on decrypting our data and teams are working on creating a new system on new servers.

It appears that decrypting our data from our old systems will be a long time in the making.   We are building the new system from the pieces of data that we’ve found on individual’s PCs that were not infected.

What is the Future:

We have full expectations to be able to deliver a new set of Sales Tax Rate tables before the Effective Date of November 1st.  They probably will only be available in our standard .csv format as it might take a little longer for our specialty tables.

To our customers who use our Sales Tax API or Sales Tax Online Lookup service we offer you our current standard table upon request.

Please be patient – continue to monitor this page for updates and instructions going forward.

Thank you so very much for your support during this very difficult time for our company.

The fight against this malicious virus continues. While we are making progress, it is very slow.
There was never any credit card information breached, because we don’t store any financial information on our servers. That is all done through a 3rd party processor and always has been.

We fully understand the impact on your businesses!

We will continue to share our progress and updates with you on this page.

We fully understand the impact on your businesses!

Zip2Tax is being attacked by a malicious virus. We have had to shut down all our servers at our 4 locations to keep this active virus from spreading.

We have several engineers working through this weekend to restore services as quickly as possible.

We understand the disruption to your business and apologize!

We will keep our efforts updated on this Web site.
