Our Daily Updates on our progress:

Friday 5:00pm EST update:

SALES TAX TABLES for DECEMBER are ready. There were NO changes in rates from the November sales tax rates, which is typical as most states plan many changes for January 1st.

You can NOT download them as normal. An e-mail is being sent to table subscribers with a link to download.

FRIDAY, November 26, 2021

If you completed a Customer Input Form earlier in the month, you should be able to log in to the Subscriber Web Portal. If you are unsuccessful, click on chat if an agent is available or send an e-mail to Info@zip2tax.com. You may need a reset and we will respond quickly!

If you never completed a Customer Input Form, you need to do that before attempting to log in.

SALES TAX TABLES for DECEMBER: The rate tables will be ready later today. The automated download is not working yet; and you still can’t download from the Subscriber Web Portal. Instead, watch for an e-mail from us, utilizing a 3rd party e-mail company called Constant Contact.

PLEASE NOTE: Sales Tax Tables are for Sales Tax Table SUBSCRIBERS only.

Thursday, November 24, 2021

WEDNESDAY, November 24, 2021

The Sales Tax Tables for December rates will be available on Friday or Monday. Please keep checking here for more information about how to receive the tables. FYI – There were no changes in rates so far…but some departments of revenue are slow to report.

The Subscriber Web Portal is up for many Subscribers, but not all. If you would like to test your log-in, please do. But it may be later today before it works for everyone.

The API is still working successfully. Watch for added features in December.

TUESDAY, November 23, 2021

Please see the sidebar for your particular service subscription type update!

NOTE: The API is working and providing a sales tax rate for each ZIP code query.

The Subscriber Web Portal is ALMOST up…having a few minor issues this morning.

Please note:

The queries are the 5-digit ZIP code result only. ZIP+4 and Spot-On will be added soon.

The reporting codes will be added soon.

The shipping taxability indicator will be added soon.

MONDAY, November 22, 2021

Happy Monday! We continued our work throughout the weekend and every day we are closer to normal. Watch for another update in about an hour.

FRIDAY, November 19, 2021

As we head into the weekend, we are pleased to announce that with another few days, our systems will be close to normal again. Our first priority since October 16th has been to restore services; all three services.

  • Our November 1st sales and use tax rates were compiled into tables on time as always and delivered to our Sales Tax Table customers on time; although in an old fashioned method of e-mail.
    1. We have completed almost all the specific types of tables for ERP integrations.
    2. We plan to have the December 1st tables ready for download no later than the 29th of November – by using the Subscriber Web Portal. We don’t have the automated download link ready yet….but it may be in time for December.
  • Our sales and use tax database connection through API was completed; although it is not as detailed, it is functional.
    1. The jurisdiction codes and shipping information will be added very soon.
    2. The resolution is still only the 5-digit ZIP; ZIP+4 will be next, and Spot-On will be after the first of the year.
  • Our sales and use tax online lookup service, through the Subscriber Web Portal, has been tested and is about to be published for use. Just as mentioned above in the API information;
    1. The jurisdiction codes and shipping information will be added very soon.
    2. The resolution is still only the 5-digit ZIP; ZIP+4 will be next, and Spot-On will be after the first of the year.

We can’t say it enough – THANK YOU for your patience as we have navigated through the carnage of the malicious ransomware attack. May it never happen to any of you!

Stay tuned for more updates next week as we move into a truly thankful Thanksgiving holiday.

See our Frequently Asked Questions in the right sidebar (scroll down to the green box). If your question is still not answered, click on the Chat button or send an e-mail to Info@Zip2tax.com. Chat and e-mail are responded to quickly! Phone calls are not.

To all of our subscribers who have been patient, kind, and thoughtful…..thank you! We have been working night and day to get our company put back together and you have been wonderful.

MONDAY morning, November 15, 2021

Just 4 weeks since the ransomware rendered all our servers useless, we have:

  1. Successfully delivered sales and use tax tables to our Table subscribers on time and expect the same result for the December 1st rates.
  2. Successfully tested the API database connection for the Sales/Use Tax API subscribers. It is ready for release this week.
  3. Almost done with rebuilding the Subscriber Web Portal for our Online Lookup subscribers and will be ready to test tomorrow.

We continue to work 24/7 to deliver the service to all our subscribers! Stay tuned for more updates.

THANK YOU all for your patience and assistance.

Friday, November 12, 2021

Happy Friday!

CLARIFICATION: If you are not an API subscriber, we are not going to send you the link to test.

If you would please read the right sidebar for your subscription type, you will see what we have for you. If you are not sure what type of subscription you have, then chat or e-mail and we will let you know.

Thursday, November 11, 2021

The API is still being tested – getting closer to perfection with every minute. Thank you to our customer/developers Paul and Randy for your feedback…it is helping tremendously! We are trying to recreate the API exactly as before so there will be no re-programming on anyone’s part.

If you would like a test URL for the API, please e-mail INFO@zip2tax.com and we’ll be happy to share it.

Wednesday morning, November 10, 2021

We will have a JSON api ready to test soon. The XML is already tested and working well.

We had a setback with the Subscriber Portal…sorry Online Lookup subscribers! Hope to get on track again very soon.

We added a list of Frequently Asked Questions on the sidebar. But if you need anything else, please send an e-mail to INFO@zip2tax.com or click on the Chat button.

You will also see menu items at the top of the page for Tax Rate Changes, and interactive maps for general tax rates in the U.S. and Canada.

Tuesday, November 9, 2021

The API testing is going well. We need some adjustments to the JSON result, but the XML is about done. Thank you all for your patience!

Monday Morning, November 8, 2021

We are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. This morning we are beta testing the API and Online Lookup. Stay tuned!!

Friday morning, November 5, 2021

We have had promising tests of the new API and online lookup this week.

Wednesday, November 3, 2021

Current Status of our systems as of today is as follows.

  1. Subscriber Web Portal (https://myaccount.zip2tax.com).
You can see the site is visible, but you can’t log in yet. There is still work to be done but we are getting much closer. Maybe another week.

We have an Excel spreadsheet of the November Sales Tax rates. If that will help you until the Web Portal is back up, please send an e-mail to TeresaF@zip2tax.com
  2. Sales Tax Table Download (also at the Subscriber Web Portal)
Same status as the Subscriber Web Portal.

We do have the November tables, so if you completed a Customer Input form, but still have not received a November Sales Tax rates table, please send an e-mail to TeresaF@zip2tax.com
  3. API Connection (your server to our server).
We are close to having a basic API ZIP code query ready. Maybe another week.

When we have more definite time frames of systems, you will be notified here and by e-mail IF you completed a Customer Input Form.

Monday afternoon, November 1, 2021

If you completed a Customer Input form, but still have not received a November Sales Tax rates table (if you want one), please send an e-mail to TeresaF@zip2tax.com

IMPORTANT!

Do NOT complete more than one customer input form! It doesn’t increase the response time, it only slows it down to have to sort through duplicates.

If you have a question about your form, send an e-mail to TeresaF@zip2tax.com

Monday morning, November 1, 2021

For all clients who completed a Customer Input Form this morning, we are sending the tables in priority order (Table customers). Please be patient!

PLEASE! Do NOT complete the form more than once. Instead, send an e-mail directly to TeresaF@zip2tax.com, your account manager.

If you have not completed a Customer Input Form yet, please do so to be added to our e-mail list for updates on our system status.

Friday afternoon, October 29, 2021

To all Table and API customers who completed the Customer Input Forms: You should all have received a November Sales Tax Table. They were sent to the e-mail contacts you entered on your form.

To all Online Lookup customers: Your November tables are going out on Sunday to the e-mail contacts you entered on your form.

Wednesday, October 20, 2021 UPDATE:

What Happened:

Zip2Tax was victim of a Ransomware attack in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 16.  We did not entertain the idea of paying a ransom.  Ransoms are never a guarantee of restoration, and they only provide the hackers with more capital with which to attack other businesses.

What We Have Done So Far:

Since the attack was discovered, we’ve had teams working in parallel: teams are working on decrypting our data and teams are working on creating a new system on new servers.

It appears that decrypting our data from our old systems will be a long time in the making.   We are building the new system from the pieces of data that we’ve found on individual’s PCs that were not infected.

What is the Future:

We have full expectations to be able to deliver a new set of Sales Tax Rate tables before the Effective Date of November 1st.  They probably will only be available in our standard .csv format as it might take a little longer for our specialty tables.

To our customers who use our Sales Tax API or Sales Tax Online Lookup service we offer you our current standard table upon request.

Please be patient – continue to monitor this page for updates and instructions going forward.

Thank you so very much for your support during this very difficult time for our company.

Monday, October 18, 2021

The fight against this malicious virus continues. While we are making progress, it is very slow.
There was never any credit card information breached, because we don’t store any financial information on our servers. That is all done through a 3rd party processor and always has been.

We fully understand the impact on your businesses!

We will continue to share our progress and updates with you on this page.

Saturday, October 16, 2021

We fully understand the impact on your businesses!

Zip2Tax is being attacked by a malicious virus. We have had to shut down all our servers at our 4 locations to keep this active virus from spreading.

We have several engineers working through this weekend to restore services as quickly as possible.

We understand the disruption to your business and apologize!

We will keep our efforts updated on this Web site.
